Reading and quizzing
Times Table Rock Stars
This term we are reading the text 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl and 'The Demon Dentist' by David Walliams. We are using this as a stimulus for writing. We are learning about creating interesting sentences that are correctly formed and at the same time incorporating grammar techniques to add cohesion.
In year 4, we read every day. We have guided reading four times a week. During these sessions the children read to an adult, work on dictionary skills, complete comprehension activities and read independently.
Reading Vipers - Reading is not just about word recognition. Working on our 'Vipers' skills will help us to really enjoy what we are reading.
In Maths we will begin with place value, addition and subtraction before continuing to develop our multiplication and division skills. Times Tables Rockstars is a great way to get in lots of practise. Every child has their own login details which can be found in their planner.
