Welcome to Peru - Bienvenido a Peru
Class Teachers: Mrs Austin and Mrs Standbridge
Support: Miss Boyton
Class email: Peru@connectedlearningmat.co.uk
The children in Peru (5P) are enthusiastic and engaged in their learning. They are becoming imaginative and creative learners and put these skills to use when learning all about Peru and producing some fantastic work. This year, the children have agreed to be encouraging to each other, work as a team and to always try their best.
Equipment to Remember: Filled water bottle, Pupil Planner and reading book. PE kits and Outdoor learning kits will stay in school until half term (unless they need to go home to be freshened up). PE is on Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons.
Pupil Planners: These are specific to each individual as they have their log ons as well as the spellings that they need to learn. If you need to communicate with me, please use their pupil planner as a means of communication or you can email me using the class email address. When your child reads at home, please sign their planner.
Our Key Skills Day is on Thursday morning and this morning consists of Computing, PE and French.
Homework: Please can children read at home and have their Pupil Planners signed by a responsible adult. In addition, MyON is an on-line library where children are able to read and then quiz straight away. Weekly spellings are set every Friday and tested the following Friday. Not only are these stuck in their Pupil Planners to learn but children can also learn these on Spelling Shed. Children can practise their times tables on Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) - jamming is aimed more at a specific times table - and tournaments are set. Please encourage your child to carry out their homework and have their Pupil Planners signed as Dojos are given as rewards.
In English we are reading the book Holes by Louis Sachar. This will form the basis of our writing over the half term.
For children to dive deeper into their reading, we use VIPERS. Using this will help your child develop their comprehension skills.
Key Stage 2 Question Stems
Maths - Power Maths
In Maths, children are using Power Maths which is designed to spark curiosity, excitement and nurture confidence in maths.
This half term, children are learning about living things and their habitats.
Peru's weekly timetable
Children are sometimes given the opportunity to choose their learning timetable so this may change.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
